I wish all of you Patrons, Subscribers, and other Viewers a Happy New Year!

Many of you are unaware I am a retired naval architect and marine engineer. I was an active member in the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME – New England Section), Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE – New England Section), American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) and other similar groups. I had also studied secondary education and became licensed to tech “Introduction to Engineering Technology, grades 5 through 12 in Massachusetts.

Several years ago, I was asked to develop a “S.T.E.M.” (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) curriculum for a local non-profit education center. I developed a basic course focusing on basic concepts and simple math used to develop simple flat bottomed skiff designs. I took this further with the construction of scale models and then the actual, full sized build. AT the end of the manual, I included an amazingly simple dinghy design of mine: “Simple Simon.” This design was originally developed to teach basic boat building classes and was designed as a hybrid of sorts, encompassing both “stitch & glue” and “glue & screw” plywood boat building methods.

I have re-packaged this 78-page manual and I making it available to anyone interested, free of charge. It is not in the public domain. I still own and retain all copyright claims. This manual may be downloaded and printed by the end user. It may be shared with others. This manual may not be hosted on other web sites or other social media and may not be sold. This manual can be reprinted and/or distributed electronically to students in schools and other learning institutions free of charge where my express permission and license to do so has been granted.
