I’m not referring to the Jimmy Buffet song in this video. I’m referring to major changes on how often I produce videos in the future, changes to the type of content, and various other considerations.

Apart from a handful of regular viewers that typically comment, like, and share my videos; the majority of viewers do nothing but move on. I’ve noticed a huge disparity in the number of people downloading the free plans I’ve offered for various projects verses the number of likes, shares, and comments.

Supporting a YouTube channel with likes, comments, and shares does not cost the viewer any money and hardly any time. Just a few seconds to make a few clicks is all it takes to show appreciation, and such an effort goes a long way to increase viewership which in turn increases the meager AdSense income (measured in pennies per day  total, with close to 170 videos posted on YouTube).

The cost of video production is greater than one might imagine. As one works through the learning curve, upgrades to software and equipment are needed. Time is a factor, having to stop multiple time throughout projects to set up the camera shots. A huge amount of time goes into video editing and rendering, plus uploading the videos and promoting them across social media.

It’s time to change the way I do things, at least for the time being. I put a PayPal button on my web site where most of my free plans are located for free downloads in hopes some folks may offer a tip once in awhile so I wouldn’t have to sell them for a fee, and after several months I received one tip (which was very much appreciated). I started a Patreon page in hopes of generating subscribers in exchange for increased information, plans, and other bonuses but only have one Patron as of this writing.

The free plans presently available will remain free. However, any plans for projects I develop in the future will be offered for sale and will no longer be free (with the exception of certain plans offered to patrons through my Patreon page).

The frequency of videos produced will change. Rather than trying to post at least one or more videos per week (usually on Fridays), I’ll only post a new video whenever I have time to put one together and will no longer adhere to a production schedule.

You typically see the following message near the end of my video descriptions, and at the end of every video: Please Subscribe today, “Like,” and Share. Thanks for watching!

I will no longer post that message because not many people bother to do so anyway. You can help me help you, or not – it’s your choice. Whatever…………..

End of rant!

Here’s the (rant) video:
